Description:

 The Team:

  • The Cloud Administrator will join our Operations group and report to the Data Center Operations Manager.  The Operations team is responsible for the availability and scalability of multiple 24x7 SaaS and Cloud environments.
  • This team also manages and maintains the QA and Development infrastructure.
  •  Our work environment is global (multiple time zones), fast-paced and forward thinking.

The Role:

  • The Cloud Administrator will work within a team to help implement, maintain, and administer the automated Cloud infrastructure.  This role spans multiple services, and will be working according to the resource requirements of the Operations team at the discretion of the Operations’ leadership.
  • Assist in automating everything from deployment to monitoring, and management to incident response.
  • Support the belief in “Infrastructure as Code” – administering operating systems through scripts, APIs, tooling, and automation.
  • Proficient understanding of technology fundamentals enabling Cloud computing, storage, networking, and security.
  • Assist in execution of Cloud migration plan to and from multiple data centers.
  • Help improve operational best practices and procedures.
  • Follow documented processes for troubleshooting, engagement, escalation, and others with 3rd-party hosting partners.
  • Implement performance optimizations suggested by the engineering personnel.
  •  Respond to alerts, and help monitor, tune, and configure Non-Production and Production monitoring for best sustainable performance.
  • Help implement, and maintains policies and procedures regarding data security/access,retention/destruction, and backup recovery functions.
  • Contribute to knowledgebase articles to document troubleshooting steps and common solutions to frequent calls for use by customers and peers.
  • Research and diagnose issues independently or as a team.
  • Support after-hours and on-call duties as required.
  •  Work well in a team environment with a strong customer service ethic.
  • Explore concepts, ideas, and new technology to create novel, yet robust and scalable solutions to problems.

Essentials:

  • Basic knowledge of Windows PowerShell.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Windows Operating systems in 24x7 Production environments, in various public or private Cloud providers.
  • Ability to successfully complete project tasks as priorities shift.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows Server (2008 and 2012) tools and administration (AD, DNS, IIS, etc).
  • Awareness of system automation strategies using tools (Puppet, Chef, DSC, CloudFormation, etc).
  • Proficient in tasks involved with SQL Server 2008/2012/2014 installation and basic administration, including backup and restore procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of metrics and alerts for uptime performance and usage.
  • Experience with Virtual deployments (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, or similar).
  • Understand networking concepts such as routing, gateways, remote connectivity, and some network administration including VPN configuration.
  • Understand the importance of controlling change without delaying deliverables.
  • Ability to successfully complete project tasks as priorities shift.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with continuous integrations
  • Working understanding of Microsoft TFS in a development environment
  • Exposure to Cloud-based environments, such as AWS, Azure, or IaaS–based providers
  • Configuring monitoring systems (SCOM, CloudWatch, CopperEgg, Pingdom, Nagios, Solarwinds etc)
