Description:

Responsibilities

  1. Perform accurate and complete data extraction from data warehouse as well as nonstandard data sources to meet project requirements, including cleaning, transformation and pre-processing data.
  2. Perform statistical analysis and modeling techniques on very large data sets, including the use of standard statistical packages such as R or SAS.
  3. Develop solutions that visualize data and allow customer to interact with the data using data visualization software solutions such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI.
  4. Analyze health care data, utilization, quality initiatives, outcome, and performance analysis for clinical programs.
  5. Gather and generate information used to understand health costs and assist with making recommendations to health plan on cost analysis.
  6. Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of health services programs including but not limited to condition support, case management and complex case management. Perform program evaluation for internal and external health programs where appropriate to role.
  7. Present complex data, analysis and findings to teams in a way that is clear and understandable.
  8. Develop general health insurance business content knowledge as well as specific knowledge related to assigned business areas of analytics support.
  9. Keep current on current trends, best practices and technologies in Analytics and make appropriate recommendations to technology planning team.
  10. Assist in the development of capabilities and performance measurements.
  11. Respond to ad-hoc analytic requests.

  1. Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.
  2. Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Work Experience: Prior data analytic work experience in healthcare environment preferred, but not required.  

 

Education, Certificates, Licenses: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Public Health or similar research related field required. Related Master Degree preferred.

 

Knowledge: Understanding of advanced analytics methods (such as machine learning, multivariate statistics, cluster analysis, simulation and neural networks.) Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines and manage workload within a team environment or without direct supervision. Working knowledge of medical costs is desired, while experience with medical coding and terminology is also preferred. Ability to solve complex problems. Ability to deal responsibly with confidential information. Proficiency in at least one statistical/analytical programming tools such as R, Python, SAS, SPSSProficiency in other technical applications such as Tableau, SQL, and web-based database tools. Skilled in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Experience in Python, Ruby, Octave/Matlab, PHP, Spark, Hadoop is a plus
